2014 NPIRI Technical Conference Finishes in Lincolnshire, IL

The 2014 NPIRI Technical Conference completed another successful year at the Lincolnshire Marriott in Lincolnshire, IL.  This year’s conference attracted over 150 attendees for the Tabletop displays, Supplier Spotlights, Short Courses, Technical presentations and Awards Banquet.

Alan Kalmikoff (AIK Consulting) and John Copeland (Toyo)

Alan Kalmikoff of AIK Consulting was awarded the 2014 TAM Service Award.   Alan has worked in the ink industry for more than 40 years and has served NAPIM in a wide range of activities for many years. He currently serves as a Director-At-Large for NAPIM’s Executive Committee, a post he has held since 2009. He is also a member of NAPIM’s TAM Steering Committee. He is a 17-year veteran of NAPIM’s Management Committee, which is responsible for the State of the lndustry Report, and he has presented the annual report at numerous NAPIM Conventions. Additionally, he has been a  moderator at NAPIM and NPIRI Conferences.

Lisa Fine (Joules Angstrom), Kevin Kingman (Flint Group), John Copeland (Toyo)

Kevin Kingman of Flint Group was award this year’s NPIRI Technical Acheivement Award.  Kevin has been involved in the development and implementation of some of the ink industries most technologically advanced products for HS, News and Flexo inks.

He has been instrumental in exporting North American ink technology globally, including formulation techniques, test methodology and best practices in manufacturing, as well as supporting the technical service personnel in these areas.  He has worked with suppliers to improve their products and eliminate potentially harmful materials.

Thomas Mawby (Flint Group) and Gene Cassidy of Lawter, Inc

Thomas Mawby of Flint Group was awarded the 2014 NPIRI Lecture Series award for his paper on UV ink technology.  Tom presented his paper entitle “UV LED – Shedding New Light on an Old Subject”  in the Opening Session of this year’s Conference.

Lisa Fine (Joules Angstrom), Jerry Napiecek (ColorCon, NoTox Products), Dan DeLegge (Ink Solutions)

This year marked the end of Lisa Fine’s term as NPIRI president.    Lisa Fine of Joules Angstrom has served as NPIRI president for the last three years.   NPIRI greatly appreciates her strong leadership as NPIRI’s president.   Jerry Napiecek (ColorCon, NoTox Products) will succeed Lisa as NPIRI president and Dan DeLegge of Ink Solutions will serve as NPIRI vice president.
